INTERVIEW PROCESS
The Amazon loop, round by round
Move through the loop with one clear goal at a time — not a generic checklist.
- 01Focus
Online Assessment (OA)
A 90-minute online test with around 20 MCQs (with negative marking) on quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and CS fundamentals, plus 2 coding problems. Many candidates also get a work-simulation module that drops them into a mock workday of team emails and task threads to assess judgment and prioritization.
Accuracy & pace
- 02Focus
Technical Interview Round 1
A coding-focused round covering data structures and algorithms (arrays, strings, trees, graphs, dynamic programming). The interviewer expects a working, optimized solution with clear discussion of time and space complexity, and usually includes at least one Leadership Principle-based behavioral question.
Problem framing
- 03Focus
Technical Interview Round 2
A second DSA/coding round, often paired with an in-depth discussion of the candidate's projects or resume. May include basic system design or object-oriented design questions for entry-level roles, alongside more Leadership Principle behavioral questions.
Technical depth
- 04Focus
Bar Raiser Round
Conducted by a senior Amazonian from outside the hiring team, specifically trained to keep the hiring bar consistent across the company. Mixes deep technical questions with detailed STAR-format behavioral questions mapped to specific Leadership Principles.
Trade-offs
- 05Focus
HR / Leadership Principles Round
Final round focused almost entirely on behavioral and situational questions testing alignment with Amazon's 16 Leadership Principles, along with compensation, location preferences, and overall fit.
