WHAT INTERVIEWERS ARE LOOKING FOR

Signals to make easy to see.

Use your examples and technical answers to surface these strengths. You do not need to force every signal into every response.

01

API and data modelling

02

Reliability thinking

03

Scalability trade-offs

04

Operational ownership

A strong practice outcome

An API or service design explanation that covers the happy path, failure modes, and observability.

A PRACTICAL PREPARATION PLAN

Practise the loop in the right order.

This plan gives you enough structure to prepare steadily while leaving room to adapt to your current experience and interview date.

  1. 01

    Understand the signals

Map Accenture's Algorithms & Coding and SQL & DBMS expectations to the Backend Developer role.

  2. 02

    Practise with structure

Run timed drills that improve api and data modelling and reliability thinking.

  3. 03

    Rehearse the full loop

Combine technical judgement, role depth, and behavioural stories in one realistic mock session.

  4. 04

    Refine from feedback

Turn every attempt into one specific improvement before your next practice round.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

How the Accenture loop usually unfolds.

The number and order of rounds can vary by team, level, and location. Use this as a preparation map, not a guarantee.

1

Communication Assessment

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: An AI-graded spoken English test with around 63 questions assessing pronunciation, fluency, and clarity, run as a separate gate from the written cognitive test.

2

Cognitive Ability Test

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: A multiple-choice test (roughly 35-45 minutes, no negative marking) covering critical reasoning, abstract reasoning, and verbal ability, with some campuses using game-based logic questions instead of traditional aptitude sections.

3

Technical Assessment

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: MCQs on pseudocode comprehension and core CS fundamentals (OOP, data structures, basic DBMS), used to gauge programming aptitude before the dedicated coding round.

4

Coding Round

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: A mandatory, elimination-round coding test with 2 problems to be solved in 45 minutes. Performance here is a major factor in whether a candidate is placed on the standard ASE track or the higher-paying Advanced ASE track.

5

Technical Interview

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: Covers OOP, data structures, and basic programming-language questions (commonly C/C++ or Java), along with a discussion of academic projects and technical interests.

6

HR Interview

30–90 min
Accenture process

How to prepare: Mostly a formality for candidates who cleared the earlier rounds. Covers self-introduction, motivation for joining Accenture, strengths and weaknesses, willingness to relocate, and team-situation questions using the STAR method.

PRACTISE THE QUESTIONS BEHIND THE LOOP

Questions worth rehearsing aloud.

These examples test the kind of clarity a backend developer needs to show. Use them to practise your structure, not to memorise a script.

Begin with the client’s job and the domain action it needs to complete. Define clear inputs, ownership, validation, and versioning, then explain which details stay internal so the contract can evolve safely.
